How PEMF affects our systems

How does PEMF Therapy affect our bodily systems?

Skeletal System

The Skeleton is the framework on which the rest of the body is built.Bones also play a role in the other body systems; red and white blood cells grow and develop in fatty inner tissue known as red marrow.Essential minerals, including calcium are stored in the bones to be released when the body needs them. The skeleton gradually becomes weaker and lighter as we age.Magnetic fields pass through the body- even bones – as if the body wasn’t there. PEMF’s stimulate bone healing and repair after surgery, injury or the onset of disease.

  • Improves bone regeneration in Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis
  • Stimulates calcium absorption
  • Speeds up bone healing and repair; fracture, spinal, disc, whiplash, torn ligament and cartilage
  • Slows the development of bone disease; Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis
  • Slows the aging process

Muscular System

Muscles make up about half the body’s bulk.Working with the skeleton, the voluntary muscles enable the body to make precise movements, lift objects, and even speak.Involuntary muscles, which include the heart muscle and smooth muscles, provide essential power for the functioning of the respiratory, cardiovascular, and digestive systems. Bones and skeletal muscles, tendons and ligaments are subjected to constant wear and tear. The musculoskeletal system is more likely to be affected by injury than dis-ease.Bone strength and structure can be weakened by hormonal and inflammatory joint disorders that can occur at any age. Inflammation of the tissues surrounding bones is caused by naturally occurring chemicals in the body released in response to tissue damage. The chemicals stimulate nerve endings producing pain. They also cause blood vessels to dilate, increasing blood flow and leak fluid; white blood cells are attracted to the damaged area. The result is localized redness, heat, pain and swelling.Inflammation is often treated with anti-inflammatory drugs which reduce symptoms by blocking the production of chemicals that cause pain.Chronic inflammation is frequently a cause of chronic pain.

  • Increases muscle energy (ATP) production so muscles can work harder, longer , recover faster
  • Speeds up healing of muscle injuries; sprains, strains, torn ligaments and tendons

  • Reduces symptoms of Fibromyalgia
  • Increases muscle strength, coordination and movement
  • Speeds up surgical post-operative healing

Nervous System

The brain is the site of both conscious thought and creativity.Through the nerves of the spinal cord and the network of nerves that branch to every part of the body, the brain controls all body movement. The nervous system also interacts with endocrine glands to influence other systems and body functions.Disruption of electrical impulses in the brain and spinal cord or the nerves leading to and from them may impair both physical and mental function. The nervous system can be affected by infections, injury, tumours and degenerative conditions.Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Dementia, Stroke, Haemorrhage, Paralysis, Alzheimer’s, Hearing and Vision Loss, are the result of abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

The Endocrine System

The endocrine system is a collection of hormone-producing glands and cells located in various parts of the body.Hormones are chemicals that act on specific tissues and affect the body’s internal balance and regulate body functions such as metabolism, growth and sexual production.Secreted by the endocrine glands and some other organs, they circulate in blood and other body fluids. The endocrine system initiates the changes that occur at puberty.Hormone production depletes with age.The glands are; Pituitary, Adrenal, Pancreas, Thyroid and Parathyroid, Testes, Ovaries.

Cardiovascular or Circulatory System

The heart and the body’s blood-transporting network of arteries, veins and smaller vessels form the circulatory or cardiovascular system. As blood is continuously pumped out from the heart and around the system in two circuits, it carries oxygen and vital nutrients to all parts of the body and removes harmful waste products from tissues. The cardiovascular system’s basic function is to pump blood around the body; a pause of more than a few seconds in this life-supporting circulation results in loss of consciousness. The system takes oxygenated blood to all body organs and tissues and can adapt swiftly to changes in demand.Disorders of the heart and circulatory system are among the leading causes of ill-health in the developed world.Blood circulation may be hindered by obstructions such as blood clots or fatty deposits or by weakened arteries or malfunctioning valves.Atherosclerosis, Angina, Heart Attacks, Arrhythmias, Heart Valve, Murmurs, Congenital Defects, Heart Muscle Inflammation, Pericarditis, Heart Failure, Thrombosis, Embolism, Aneurysm, Hypertension are all cardiovascular disorders.

  • Improves cholesterol levels
  • Increases oxygen levels in the blood
  • Encourages the release of emotional blockages

Lymphatic System

The healthy body has an internal defense mechanism known as the immune system which guards against invasion by disease-causing organisms and is also activated by cancerous changes in cells. This system is based on specialized white cells called lymphocytes which respond to infection or cell abnormalities in a number of different ways. Lymphocytes neutralize or destroy microorganisms in lymph before it returns to the bloodstream providing vital protection from infectious disease and preventing malfunction of internal tissues. In a healthy person, an intricate interrelationship of physical, cellular and chemical defenses work as a barrier against many threats.Poor general health compromises the system’s efficiency.Addison’s Disease, Celiac Disease, Diabetes, Graves’ Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, HIV and AIDS are Autoimmune Disorders.

  • Balances and integrates lymphatic system
  • Stimulates and strengthens the immune system
  • Stimulates production of healthy blood cells
  • Addresses all cellular based disease in the body

Respiratory System

To function, body cells need oxygen. The respiratory system which consists of air passages, pulmonary vessels and the lungs, as well as breathing muscles, supplies fresh oxygen to the blood for distribution to the rest of the body tissues. In addition, respiration removes carbon dioxide, a waste product of body processes. The respiratory tract, working together with breathing muscles, carries air into and out of the lungs where oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged. The cardiovascular system transports these gases to and from all body tissues. During an intake of breath, microorganisms such as viruses and bacteria can easily be inhaled. These may cause mild illnesses affecting only the upper airways, like the common cold or more serious diseases of the lungs, such as bronchitis or pneumonia.Other types of disorder sometimes affecting the lungs include inflammation of the tissues due to allergies, damage resulting from inhalation of irritant dust particles and cancers.

Digestive System

The task of the digestive system is the physical and chemical breakdown of food.Following ingestion food and fluids are processed by the digestive organs so that nutrients can be absorbed from the intestines and circulated around the body.Any residue of food that is not digested is solidified and eliminated from the body in the form of feces. The digestive tract between the mouth and the anus has a range of function. It stores food, digests it, breaking it down into substances that are absorbed by body cells, and eliminates wastes.Healthy digestion depends on a stable nervous system.Problems with the digestive organs occur frequently and can affect people at any age. Some common disorders of the stomach and intestines are related to diet and may be aggravated by anxiety.Liver disease can be caused by viral infection and is also a common result of long-term alcohol abuse.Cancers can develop in any part of the digestive system (stomach, colon, pancreatic, liver) as well as intestinal obstruction, diverticulitis, appendicitis, gallstones, haemorrhoids, hepatitis, hernias, ulcers, Celiac Disease.

Urinary System

The urinary tract is the body’s filtering system. As blood passes through the kidneys, waste products are removed and together with excess fluids, are excreted as urine. The urinary system comprising the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra, also regulates the volume and composition of fluids in the body, keeping an internal chemical balance. Production of urine is influenced by blood flow and blood pressure, hormones, and various body rhythms and cycles.Urine leaves the body through the urethra.Infections can spread easily through the urinary tract sometimes resulting in persistent, debilitating disorders. Kidney stones form when certain chemicals become concentrated enough in the urine to form crystals. The crystals grow into larger masses (stones), which can make their way through the urinary tract. If the stone gets stuck somewhere and blocks the flow of urine, it causes pain.Proper hydration (water), calcium, reduction of salt and protein are preventatives.

Reproductive System

In biological terms, the primary function of the reproductive system in both sexes is to produce offspring by generating and bringing together male and female sex cells. The endocrine system triggers sex hormones at puberty, the start of menstruation and also menopause when fertility ceases. There are many diseases that can affect the male and female reproductive tracts. These include sexually transmitted infections and cancers and non-malignant growths of the uterus, ovaries and testes. In both sexes, certain disorders can result in infertility. In women hormonal changes are a common cause of minor breast disorders.Disorders of the uterus and reproductive organs include fibroids, prolapse, endometriosis and cancer (cervical, ovarian, testicular, prostate), Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), Urethritis, Infertility.

A Note on Cancers

Cancers are a group of diseases characterized by abnormal cell growth and can occur anywhere in the body.In most forms of cancer, a tumor develops in particular tissues, such as the skin or within an internal organ such as the lungs or stomach.Cancerous cells may spread from these growths to other site in the body.

Cancer starts when certain genes that control cell division and function are irreparably damaged by chemicals and other agents called carcinogens.Common carcinogens include tobacco smoke, asbestos fibers and radiation (electro-smog or dirty electricity). Carcinogens enter the cell, damaging genes on the chromosomes.Newly damaged oncogenes (genes) are usually repaired. The effects of repeated damage are cumulative.Over time, some oncogenes are no longer repaired. If oncogenes fail to be repaired the cell can no longer function normally and eventually becomes cancerous.

A cancer established in one part of the body can spread though the bloodstream to new sites, particularly to areas richly supplied with blood, such as the brain, liver, lungs and bones.
